Where to Find Paris’s Most Unexpected Art
Take a break from the tourist trail and follow the murals.
Do you want to see something unusual in Paris that isn’t on every Top 10 Must-See list? No huddled groups of tourists blocking your path. No selfie sticks.
Behold, Boulevard 13!
Boulevard 13 is an urban beautification initiative, started by the mayor of the arrondissement in partnership with a local gallery and international street artists to transform the 13th.
The only street artist I’m familiar with is Invader, and he has several works here.
But my favorite is this one—
Invader’s Dr. House is, appropriately, on the side of a hospital. 💖
I missed it the first time I went to the 13th but went back on another trip just to see it.
This one isn’t part of the murals. But the image was so striking—it is the first one I think of when I think of Boulevard 13.
